It was great to get over to Autumn Fair at the NEC for the first time in a while this week! Highlights included seeing the brand new Mr Men Little Miss character books for Mr Fib & Little Miss Surprise in print for the first time, plus a number of brand partnership product & ranges with stand out design and brand synergy. I am super excited that Aardman have revealed a first-look & clip of Wallace’s latest invention... Norbot! Norbot is a pre-programmed smart gnome, designed to do any kind of gardening task or “gnome improvement” and he will co-star in the brand new feature-length film, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (premiering on the BBC in the UK and globally on Netflix this Winter!) I got to gnome him well whilst working on the film guide, I can’t wait for you to see more of him soon!
I'm super excited to share that I am a mentor for Kerning the Gap's 2024 mentoring programme! I have been paired up with a lovely mentee and I look forward to working together this year. It's so brilliant to see that two projects I creative directed whilst at Roald Dahl have been nominated for a Licensing Award! One Aldwych x Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea has been nominated for the Best Licensed Live Event and the Roald Dahl x Calm partnership has been nominated for Best Licensed Written, Listening or Learning Range. Big congrats to everyone involved and looking forward to the celebrations
The news is out! It’s been SO exciting seeing the reaction to the announcement and teaser trailer for the new installment of Wallace & Gromit, coming this Winter – Vengeance Most Fowl. Studio Griggs has had the honour of working alongside the Aardman’s team, to make the marketing and promotional style guide for the film, setting the stylistic approach and creating collateral like the film logo, marketing graphics, typography, colour palette, layout and packaging, already in use. Pinch me!
It was great to be back at Leeds Arts Uni with the Fashion Marketing BA students, this time to be presented with the results of a live brief. 2nd year students were tasked to build out Studio Griggs’ brand guidelines e.g colour, tone of voice and asset usage. It was amazing to see my branding thought about and expanded on so brilliantly and has resulted in one of the students, Freya doing some work experience with me to implement some of her ideas! I loved joining the panel conversation at the fabulous kick-off event for Not Just Colouring In, a new community for creatives in the brand / licensing industry. Brilliantly organised by Skew Studio, NJCI started life as a festive lunch with a lovely bunch of peers a while ago and evolved into a survey to gauge how creatives (and creatives only) are feeling about everything from recognition, to integration with commercial teams and ROI based design. Something I am super passionate about.
I had the pleasure of joining the Mr Men Little Miss team this Spring to help them build their publishing portfolio from a brand content POV. Firstly, they have two exciting new characters launching this September: Mr Fib and Little Miss Surprise. Next, the Discover You series continues to grow, I helped on a few titles, including the newly released 'Something New' title. Check the new characters out here!
